Thoughts - Bali Deaths

Been pondering these tragic deaths of a Mother and daughter in Bali recently and a few things just don't stack up.

  1. Why does a qualified nurse buy crappy, unverifiable medicines rather than carry her own?
  2. Why such a horde of medications and treatments for such a short trip?
  3. When they fell ill, why would a qualified nurse, who must have been cognisant of her own demise simply stay in her room and not seek help? The alarm was raised by the daughter, not the mother?
  4. Why did they not ring for help? Why did the daughter have to go outside to seek assistance?
I suspect there are perfectly good reasons for this as we're only likely to get the barest of facts in a case like this - but it does get you thinking.

So what do we know?
  • It clearly seems not to have been dodgy seafood or related allergies.
  • Vast quantities of medications (29 different products) - both locally purchased and imported from OZ were found in the room.
  • Reports vary of both how long they'd been in Bali (everything from 1-3 days) and how long after eating they fell ill (from virtually immediately to anywhere from 5-12 hours later.
  • The daughter left the room to seek help - no phone calls were made?
Hopefully we'll soon have some clarity.
